What’s Inspiring Me Lately / February 2025

Here we are, already in the second month of 2025, and I've found my days have been spent mostly in my studio painting (my favorite).

Last month, I stocked my shelves with 10 new original paintings and added them to my site. The day after my collection launched, I was moving on to create the next painting.

It feels like I've been burning through my materials and working with a sense of urgency these days, mainly because Jesús and I have decided to sell our home this year (we listed it a couple of weeks ago and are awaiting a buyer still).

And while I plan to continue painting after we sell, I don't know where I'll be painting after leaving this studio or at what capacity in the near future. The unknowns of this season are kind of crazy and also exciting.

Since I've been in a constant blur of paint and canvas since the beginning of the year, I've found myself thinking a lot about what helps propel me in my creative work - all the rich sources of inspiration that aren't social media or Pinterest boards (but don't get me wrong, I do love a good Pinterest board).

With the hope of bringing some inspiration to your inbox today, here's what's been inspiring me lately:

What I'm listening to:

What color I'm gravitating to:

  • I've been finding myself painting with lavender a lot! Like the light, muted shade of lavender in this painting.

What I'm learning:

What I'm watching:

  • Jenna Phipps on Youtube. As Jesús and I dream of our next fixer-upper, we love tuning into Jenna's channel each week to get inspired.

What I'm reading:

How I’m encouraging play:

  • Crochet. I learned to crochet last year, and it was surprisingly easy to pick up, thanks to tons of tutorials online. I've been enjoying this new skill so much - right now, I'm working on making a swim cover-up for summer. :)

  • Thrifting with Jesús.

  • Arts and crafts projects with my sister (this Pinterest board in particular keeps me busy with lots of fun ideas).

What I'm thankful for:

  • Quiet mornings in our home.

  • Walks at the beach with Jesús.

  • Dinners with friends. Always. <3
